Should I Hire a Company to Transport my Pet?

Let's face it: pet transportation can be expensive. Luckily, there are so many options to choose from! You may be looking into doing it yourself or having a company do it for you. Let's go over the cost breakdown of DIY pet transportation vs. hiring a company, like us, to transport for you!

Cost: While it may seem obvious that the cheapest option in terms of pet transportation is doing it yourself, that's not always the case. So what exactly are you paying for when you hire a company? In our case, you are paying for two things: the company's time it took to set up your transportation, and the flight nanny/driver's time to transport your pet! When considering flight transportation, standby gives us the option to bypass the cost of a ticket as well as the pet fee! If you book this service with PetCommute, a flight will usually cost anywhere between $695 and $845 and a drive between $500 and $1,500. When flying the pet yourself, you will pay for your ticket (round trip or one-way, depending on your situation), the airline pet fee, which ranges from $95-$125, and for an airline-approved in-cabin carrier.

Time: One thing you are guaranteed to save by hiring a company is time. All the time you would be spending traveling to your pet, picking them up, and traveling back. This service gives that time back to you, leaving you with as much as you need to prepare for you new arrival!

Experience: The last of the things you are paying for when you book a pet transportation service is experience. We have flight nannies and drivers with years of experience in traveling with pets! They know exactly how the process works and will give you continuous updates along the way. There are a lot of details that go into transporting a pet, and it's quite helpful to have someone else working out those details for you. Your pet deserves the best!
