Assisted "Checked Pet" Pet Transportation in the Baggage Compartment

A PetCommute flight nanny must be on the same flight to qualify as a checked pet. This service is for Pets over 20lbs or that do not qualify to be in Cabin. All Pets that qualify Petcommute will take in Cabin to be supervised 100% of the time during the flight and always within arms reach. Checked pets with a nanny offer assurance that if there are delays, or layovers the nanny will be right there to collect and give any attention needed to your pet during the delay. They will also check in your pet and receive your pet directly without having to deal with issues associated with standard "Cargo".

Accepted Pets:

- Domestic Pets: Cats, dogs, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, household birds, non-poisonous reptiles, pot-bellied pigs, rabbits, and tropical fish.

- Hawaii/International Destinations**: Only cats and dogs are allowed.

Key Requirements:

- Reservation: Space is limited, so it is recommended to book as early as possible. Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

- PetCommute Flight Nanny: Your pet must travel on the same flight as designated PetCommute flight nanny.

- Age Limit: Dogs and cats must be at least 8 weeks old and fully weaned.

- Health Certificate: A current health certificate from a licensed veterinarian is required at check-in.

Crate Sizes:

Your pet’s crate must be large enough for them to stand, turn, and lie down comfortably without any body part touching the sides or top of the crate. Only solid, well-ventilated crates with metal grated doors are accepted. Below are the allowable crate sizes:

SIZE (Must be under 150lbs total)

Dimensions (Length x Width x Height)

Extra Small

21" x 16" x 15"

Small

27" x 20" x 19"

Medium

32" x 22" x 23"

Large

36" x 24" x 26"

Extra Large

40" x 27" x 30"

Additional Crate Requirements:

- Crates must be sturdy with proper ventilation and a solid roof.

- A secure metal door that can be zip-tied for additional security is required.

- Food and water dishes must be attached inside the crate, and we will feed your pet using the food you provide.

- Bedding inside the crate should be clean, absorbent, and non-toxic.

Restrictions:

- Brachycephalic Breeds: Short-nosed dogs and cats (e.g., Pugs, Bulldogs, Persian cats) are not allowed in the baggage compartment due to potential respiratory issues.

- Temperature Embargo: Pets may not be accepted if temperatures are too extreme at any location during travel for your pet’s safety.

  • Boeing operated flights only within the United States, subject to space availability, Alaska, Hawaiian and American Airlines are the only airlines that allow pets in the baggage hold area. These areas are temperature controlled, pressurized and dimly lit.

Important Notes:

- Pets must be checked in **1-2 hours before departure**, depending on the airport.

- They will be available for pick-up about **30 minutes** after the flight arrives.

- Sedation is not recommended unless specifically advised by a veterinarian, due to unpredictable effects at high altitudes.

This service ensures that your pets are transported safely and comfortably, with a PetCommute flight nanny providing care throughout the entire journey.
